Meet Brett and Megan Hines. Two locals who love the beach and are so excited to share our happy place with you.

We’ve always believed that nature brings out the best in families. Long before owning Assateague Cottages, we were two high school teachers, turned entrepreneurs, and most importantly, parents.

We both grew up going to the beach, and Assateague has always been woven into the rhythm of our lives. Now as parents, it’s become an essential part of our children’s childhood too — we’re here almost daily in the summer and probably weekly throughout the year, watching the seasons change, the ponies roam, and our kids fall in love with this place just like we did.

When we found these charming pastel cottages near Assateague Island — we knew instantly: this is it.

Anyone who met Ron Harrigan (the original founder) during the many years he ran this business, knows how deeply he cared for these cottages, Assateague, and the people who stayed here. He built this from a place of passion and simplicity, and we feel privileged to continue the work he began.

Today, Assateague Cottages is our way of sharing that sense of wonder with you. Our mission is simple: cozy spaces, simple comforts, and unforgettable adventures.
